Increase your strength and flexibility with Chiropractic

It is amazing to see the flexibility in kids and how quickly they bounce back from a fall or injury. Unfortunately this changes as we become adults, which is further exacerbated by our sedentary lifestyle, busy lives and increasing age. Loss of strength and flexibility can lead to a lot of pain in our muscles and joint.

Staying strong and flexible is still possible at any age and can also be fun. Evidence shows that strength and flexibility is important for better aging and improving quality of life. Chiropractic care can help.

Chiropractic looks at the motion and function of the spine, which houses part of the central nervous system. The central nervous system is what controls your ability to activate correct muscle groups when doing strength training. An interference to the spine may also impact the ability of the central nervous system to relay proper messages. An adjustment has a direct impact on removing the interference and potentially restoring proper function to the central nervous system via neurological and bio-mechanical input.

A recent study showed that a single session of chiropractic care can increase your strength as much as you would by 3 weeks of strength training. When the brain receives accurate information about what your body is doing it can recruit proper muscles to help improve strength. Not only does this help with strength but may also help improve circulation, improve mood and improve posture.

There are many factors that affect our strength and flexibility. Chiropractors are trained in helping people of all ages reduce pain and improve quality of life.

Tips to increase productivity while having a bit of fun

Corporate wellness is not just for big business in big cities. A good health and wellness plan in the workplace is important for building a great workplace culture that leads to increased productivity and job satisfaction.

The workplace can be very stressful with constant pressure to meet deadlines. This can quickly become overwhelming and puts a person at higher risk of illness or injury. Low back pain in the number 1 cause of injury in the workplace. Costs associated with employees needing time off work and associated medical bills quickly rise.

Chiropractic is an excellent way of bringing about an overall sense of health and well-being to the workplace. Chiropractic adjustments can be used to alleviate symptoms and reduce stress on the nervous system. It can also be used to support employees at a fraction of the time and cost compared to lost revenue from employee absenteeism. Employees who feel appreciated will also be more productive and have higher job satisfaction.

A Sustainable Approach to Mental Well-Being

“Where has the year gone?” is a phrase that has been repeated many times here at the clinic at Ready Set Chiro. What we also hear is the stress and hesitation in people’s voice when they say this. There are only 3 weeks before Christmas break and most likely there are a lot of things that haven’t been achieved despite their best efforts. Stress effects us in physical, emotional and spiritual ways

Do you notice that your shoulders are near your ears? Do you get a sore neck? Headaches? Everyone has a different way of dealing with stress. One of the most important steps is to recognise that you are stressed. When you body is stressed it can show up as physical manifestation that creates dysfunction in the muscles and joints. This can lead to bad posture as we try to minimise the pain. The longer the bad posture continues the more likely it is to wear down the spinal joints and discs causing less movement. The joint stiffness causes less range of motion and starts to affect our bodies ability to continue doing the things we love like walking, gardening or keeping up with the kids.

Fortunately there are things you can do to help avoid the cycle of pain and avoiding movement due to fear of pain.

  1. Seek professional advice: A chiropractor’s adjustment is aimed at releasing the interference to the nervous system that may be causing the pain in the first place.

  2. Get moving: a gentle walk and stretch can be of great benefit for those aches and niggles. You may know of some stretches you have done in the past. Use them to gently stretch aching joints.

  3. Use your mind skills: find a quiet place to sit and close your eyes for 5 min. Relax your shoulders, jaw and legs. Try a breathing technique called box breathing. Take a breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, out for 4 seconds and hold for 4 seconds. Repeat 3 times.

Get some Spring in your Step

Spring is a beautiful time of the year in the Great Southern, pockets of gold canola cover the fields and fresh produce like avocados, citrus fruits and thyme are finally available in stores again. While not so enjoyable for those with hay fever the Great Southern is also home to some stunning flora scattered through gardens, streets and florists, making those daily walks even more enjoyable.

Hands up if you’re guilty of being one of those people who collects some unnecessary items during the colder months, if you’re one of the ones with their hands up don’t worry you’re not the only one. As humans we tend to gather junk in both life and in our minds, spring is the perfect time of year to do some de cluttering of both. While the weather feels a little brighter it’s time to get out those cleaning products and do the annual spring clear out of the house. Cleaning the mind takes a bit more effort. It is not as easy as getting out the mop and bucket, but the more effort put into your own body the greater the results. Only you can do this for yourself.

Here are some ways you can start doing now to help you cleanse your mind…

  • Meditating

  • Taking Deep Breathes

  • Start a Journal

  • Physical Exercise

  • Gardening

It can become so easy to forget about our own self care, sometimes it can be hard for us to understand that well-being does not mean just an absence of sickness, it also means getting the mental and spiritual parts of your health ready for each day ahead. This can include getting regularly checked by your chiropractor to make sure your body is aligned and check for interference’s to the nerve communication system.

How Strong is your Foundation?

Imagine your dream home being built on the side of a hills. You know that for your house is to be stable you have to build a strong foundation. Then the rest of the home will be easier to finish and remain strong for years to come. You will have created the best home for yourself and your family.

Now consider the spine is the foundation of your home. How well built is your foundation? How often do you take the time and to care for it and ensure that it is kept strong?

Our modern, busy world can sometimes make it difficult to keep focus on our health. It becomes so easy to be engrossed in our lives that we often forget about the needs of the most important parts of our lives, our body. Health then becomes less of a priority and we end up suffering from it.

Maintaining a proper connection between the brain and body is essential for a good foundation. Did you know we laugh on average 15 times daily but touch our phones 2,600 times daily? While using your phone it is a common habit to bend the neck forward. Such an unnatural position for prolonged periods of time can cause undue stress on the spine. Over time this can then lead to pain and even headaches.

Headaches are a common problem mentioned within the walls of our chiropractic clinic. Headaches are not normal. Headaches could be a sign that your foundation has been through stressors that it cannot keep doing.

Your spine holds the key to nerve communication between your body and your mind. Your body has a naturally healing ability called the innate immue system. This is your body’s own way of continually assessing all systems to make sure everything is interacting and functioning properly. Your innate system could be fighting off a pathogen right now without you knowing about it. By looking after your communication pathways you can ensure your foundation remains strong against the outside world.

Chiropractic care could be the missing piece of the puzzle to help you build a better relationship with your body.
