Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chiropractor?
A chiropractor is a healthcare professional who is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. This includes things like neck, shoulder, back, and hip pain, as well as headaches, posture, limping, and limb pain.
How does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic adjustments help your body to restore proper spinal biomechanics, which allows your nerve system to function at its best.
Many of the things you do in your daily life, like sitting in front of a computer, can cause interference to the nervous system. This can result in pain, stiffness, and discomfort.
We offer therapies like trigger point release, soft tissue massage, and joint manipulation (also known as adjustments). These can reduce pain and give your overall wellbeing a boost.
I heard a popping sound when I was adjusted. What was that?
Once your chiro has identified the specific joint that’s giving you grief, they’ll apply a gentle, precise force to the fixated joint. You may hear a pop (or a crack), similar to when you crack your knuckle.
The movement causes a pressure change in the joint, which allows a gas bubble to be released, causing the sound. As the gas bubble is released, the joint can gradually regain normal motion and function.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Chiropractic is recognised as one of the safest non-invasive forms of health care available for treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints.
During your consultation, your chiropractor will explain the safest and most effective treatment options for you.
Of course, every health treatment comes with a degree of risk. You can help by being specific about your symptoms, and clear about how you’re feeling. The more information we have about you and your body, the better.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Generally, no. If you want to make an appointment, you can do so without a referral. At Ready Set Chiro, our multidisciplinary approach means we are enthusiastic about communicating with your healthcare providers, so we can help you achieve the best possible outcome.
