DRINK MORE WATER

Drinking water.jpg

Many patients see chiropractors and one major factor influencing there health recovery is…..

WATER……

When you drink more water the body fluid balance is maintained.

The body composition is about 70-80% water and the brain at approximately 85-90%.

Research has been noted that lowered water consumption may lead to decrease in mental and physical functions, with possible headache symptoms, such as dizziness or fatigue.

When water intake is decreased, your muscles do tend to be more rigid and can be more easily damaged and aggravated, which leads to more aches and pains in the body.

TIPS:

  1. Keeping a water cup or water bottle with you through out the day will help you greatly with your water intake. Especially after you have had an adjustment to help flush out the toxins.

  2. Try keeping a cup or bottle near your work station to visually stimulate you to drink more

  3. Tea and coffee and soda are not necessarily a good substitute for water and can actually lead to further dehydration

MUSCLE MEMORY

Have you ever wondered why your body has difficulty holding an adjustment at the start of your care.

Do you understand why you need to come in more frequently when you first start out with your Chiropractic care…. its all to do with muscle memory.

WHAT IS MUSCLE MEMORY

A vertebra is an odd looking bone with several bumps and projections. Each of these points serves as an important purpose as an attachment site for muscles and Ligaments.

When a vertebra is misaligned, these muscles and ligaments try to stabilize the spine by holding the bone in place. If the vertebra remains out of position for a long period of time, the muscles assume this position as the “New Normal”. This poses a problem for your Chiropractor because once an adjustment is delivered, your muscles will stubbornly try to re-position the vertebrae back into the misaligned state. It is for this reason your Chiropractor must see you regularly at the start of your care.

Your muscles must be “Retrained” as to the correct position of the vertebra.

Once your body begins to hold the adjustment overtime, your frequency of visits will be reduced.

Chiropractic and Strength

A recent study found that a single session of spinal manipulation increases strength in your legs as if you have done a workout for 60 minutes.

So why do we need to keep our body strong? Our muscles, ligaments and joints are the way we move and do our daily activities. These parts of our body are also under a lot of pressure daily and are easily injured.

We can keep our strength by getting a Chiropractor adjustment and doing exercises . W.H.O recommend 150 minutes a week of exercise. This is a minimum. There is no quick fixes. Exercise is the closest thing to a miracle drug and strength training is one of the best kind of exercise than most people don’t realise.

Start today. Get a program that assesses your ability as you are currently, and work up gradually.

Invest in your future….Start today.
